Fantastic. I'm not a Palace fan but I really enjoyed watching this and I do remember that cup run very well. I grew up with 70's football and the modern game is a pathetic imitation. You can keep your Premiership, Champions League, Sky Sports, all seater stadiums, 40 quid tickets and 300 grand a week prima-donnas. This is what football was all about.

Totally agree mate 100%. I was a Palace supporter then and I will never forget it. The modern game is shite.

The Chelsea away tie was my first ever away game with my parents, I was eleven at the time. We went by coach to the Sunderland game and there wasn't much segregation in the stands. The Sunderland fans around us were slagging off Peter Taylor the entire match. We even had a bet with one off them, we would swap a Palace Fedora hat for a Sunderland scarf if Palace won. On the walk back to the coaches we saw quite a lot of trouble taking place. That Sunderland scarf saved us from being caught up in it.

And me. Managed to blag a seat on the players' (train) buffet coach on the way back from Scarborough. The drinks bill was massive (600 quid IIRC) and Bloye wouldn't pay it so Big Mal just bunged it on Amex and said he'd claim it on exes. Happy days!

Robbed by Southampton. Cost me £100 as I had Palace at 400/1 e/w for the cup, from before the Leeds game. That was the same day as Rag Trade won the National at 16/1.......I'd picked him too but didn't back him as I was up at Stamford Bridge for "the big one" 🙁 Happy days - though Palace deserved the Final!

I was there. Didn't miss a game. The Chelsea game was a first. The police asked for a copy of the footage to identify the trouble makers.

Stuart Wetton I was at the chelsea palace fa cup match the violence in the north bank started before the match and continued after the match both inside and outside the ground as a 14 year old palace supporter it was terrifying

As a Sunderland fan, I remember this run, actually with great fondness. Amazing, and unusual in those days, that there's footage of every round. Great to see Scarborough's old ground - I was there about ten years later when they got promoted to Div 4 under Neil Warnock. It was a couple of weeks after their first home game against Wolves (when a Wolves fan hilariously fell through the roof of the stand) - I think Wolves had hammered them but they beat Bolton 4-0.

That brilliant pass by Chatterton to Taylor (for the first goal v Chelsea) is reminiscent of Pardew's pass for Wright's first goal v Blackburn in the 89 play-offs. Both terrible players, but good with the outside of the boot :-))
